The Government of Pakistan is making the Hajj process more convenient through digital technology. The Ministry of Religious Affairs has introduced several new features in the Pak Hajj App, allowing intending pilgrims to manage important Hajj-related matters from home instead of visiting offices.
The latest updates are designed to reduce paperwork, save time and make the Hajj process easier for pilgrims in Pakistan as well as overseas Pakistanis. With these digital facilities, applicants can make certain changes to their Hajj arrangements directly through the app.
Flexible Hajj Packages and Accommodation
One of the key new facilities allows pilgrims to change the duration of their Hajj package through the app. Applicants can switch from a long Hajj package to a short package, or from a short package to a long one, without having to visit a ministry office.
The app also provides different accommodation choices. Pilgrims can select from two-bed, three-bed, family-room and shared accommodation options according to the facilities available to them. This gives applicants more flexibility when managing their Hajj arrangements.
The ministry said these services are intended to make the process simpler and reduce the need for office visits, queues and waiting.
Medical Fitness Certificate Goes Digital
Another important addition is the digital handling of medical fitness certificates. Pilgrims can print their medical fitness certificate through the Pak Hajj App and have it verified by an authorised doctor.
After verification, the certificate can be uploaded again through the Pak Hajj App or the Hajj Portal. This digital process can make document submission more convenient and help pilgrims complete an important requirement without unnecessary visits to offices.
The facility is also useful for overseas Pakistanis. They can obtain their medical fitness certificate from an authorised doctor near their place of residence and upload the verified document through the digital system.
Mahram, Helper and Refund Facilities
The updated digital system also provides a facility for successful Hajj applicants to apply for a Mahram or helper under the hardship quota, where applicable.
In addition, pilgrims can now use the digital platform to cancel their Hajj application and request a refund in unavoidable circumstances. Having this option available online can make the process more straightforward for applicants who are unable to continue with their Hajj plans.
Warning About Private Hajj Bookings
Meanwhile, private Hajj bookings are continuing through the Digital Hajj Portal developed by the National Information Technology Board (NITB). The Ministry of Religious Affairs has advised pilgrims to use the official portal for private Hajj bookings and payments.
The ministry has specifically warned against making private Hajj bookings or payments through unofficial channels. Pilgrims should therefore verify the platform before submitting personal information or making any payment.
According to the ministry, 26,000 applications have so far been completed under the private Hajj scheme, while around 45,000 seats remain available.
A More Convenient Hajj Experience
The latest Pak Hajj App features represent another step toward making Hajj services more digital and accessible. From package changes and accommodation selection to medical certificate submission, hardship-quota applications and cancellation requests, several processes can now be handled online.
For pilgrims preparing for the sacred journey, these facilities can reduce unnecessary paperwork and office visits while making important Hajj services easier to access from home.
